IMPROMEDY IS...

An Improvisation and Sketch Comedy company based out of Miami, bringing the best improvised and written theatre to South Florida. Impromedy has performed in Improv and Sketch Festivals in New York, Toronto, Providence, Atlanta, Gainesville, and Miami, with more adding to the list as time goes on.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to perform, teach, develop, and promote improvisational theatre, sketch and stand up comedy. We also want to promote having fun and giving the people the joy of playing together whether they be children or adults. Create amazing, phenomenal and innovative shows. To be a theater made up of members of its community to perform for the community. To Entertain and surprise the audience and ourselves. To be a theater of the heart where honesty and love for your fellow performer are the basis for all that happens on stage.

IMPROV KNOWLEDGE

Short Form Improv: (Whose Line is it Anyway and just about any other group that does improv in the world)
These are "whose line is it anyway" style games. Usually 3-5 minutes and always based on YOUR suggestion.

Sketch: (SNL, MADtv, Chappelle's Show and many others)
A series of short comedy scenes, usually pre written material that often comes out of improvised scenes.

Long Form Improv: (Second City, Annoyance Theatre & Improv Olympic and many many others)
Long form improv is the true art of improvisation. The player or players perform an improvised piece telling a whole story between 15 to 45 minutes. Long form improvisation is about character and scene work which does not have to be funny. Some of the biggest comedians studied long form improvisation such as Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, and many many more.
